Three in custody after stabbing

-

A fight in the parking lot of a strip mall off the Beltway led to a stabbing Friday night and at least two arrests, according to police.

At least seven people were involved in the altercation around 10:45 p.m. Friday at 8338 W. Sam Houston Parkway, Houston Police Lt. Christopher Bruce said.

Officers had initially responded to a call of a stolen vehicle when they heard the commotion in the parking lot, Bruce said. It’s unclear how the brawl started.

Several people ran when they saw police, and officers soon noticed that one person had been “sliced” during the melee.

Two men were arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for their roles in the fight. A third person was taken into custody after Bruce said he “squared up” with an officer.

The officer used a Taser to subdue him, Bruce said.

The stabbing victim was taken to a hospital, and he is expected to survive.
