HomeAid, First America Homes to break ground on charity project in Humble
HomeAid Houston and the team at First America Homes, a Division of the Signorelli Company announced the official groundbreaking of a 5,800-square-foot Day Center for Family Promise of Lake Houston (FPLH) in Humble. The event will be held on Dec. 11, at 11 a.m. at 111
South Ave. G in Humble. HomeAid and First America Homes are partnering to construct the Day Center called Promise House, that will serve families in crisis. First America Homes is the builder captain.
Family Promise of Lake Houston (FPLH), a 501 (c)(3) charity, offers a caring and positive environment for children and their families who are reeling from a variety of crisis situations including fire, flood, the death of a spouse, loss of a job, and eviction, or a foreclosure of a home. The Day Center will offer counseling and admin offices, locker rooms, bath facilities, a family room, kitchen, a child’s playroom and a dining room and library.
“HomeAid is thrilled and honored to be a part of this important day, as we break ground on a beautiful facility that will serve families in need in the Humble area,” said Carole Brady, executive director of HomeAid Houston. “We are honored to be part of a team that is creating a nurturing environment for clients who come through those doors (and) will feel welcomed and inspired to reach new heights as they work toward a better life.”
Funders to the project include The William Stamps Farish Fund, Albemarle Foundation, Ascentium Capital and Avis Charitable Foundation. FPLH is also receiving funding from the PetSmart Charitable Foundation, who will pay for a “pet condo” on the property, allowing families to keep their pets as they work to improve their situation. The grant is part of a national agreement with the Family Promise organization.
“We are incredibly grateful for the contributions being made by HomeAid Houston and First America Homes in helping us address a growing need in the community,” said Jessica Penney, executive director of Family Promise. “Thanks to their generosity, Family Promise can continue our mission as we help change the lives of some very deserving families.”
HomeAid has been building transformational housing for homeless care agencies throughout Houston and surrounding counties since 2003. The first shelter was dedicated in 2005. Since then, 54 projects have been completed, adding more than 441 beds and $14.2 million in real estate construction and improvements to Houston’s homeless community.
