Lowry, Raptors put an end to Celtics’ 5-game win streak

BOSTON — Kyle Lowry scored 30 points, Serge Ibaka had 20, and the Toronto Raptors beat Boston 113-97 on Saturday night, snapping the Celtics’ five-game winning streak.

Patrick McCaw and Fred VanVleet each added 18 points for Toronto, which avenged a loss on Christmas and sent Boston to just its second loss in 15 games at home this season.

Kemba Walker led the Celtics with 30 points, and Jaylen Brown had 17 after getting consecutiv­e 30point games for the first time in his career. Brown had a career high 34 in a win over Cleveland on Friday.

NUGGETS 119, GRIZZLIES 110

Nikola Jokic scored a season-high 31 points, and added 10 rebounds and 10 assists for his seventh triple-double of the season, leading Denver to a win over visiting Memphis.

Jokic, who has 35 career triple-doubles, has 11 double-doubles in the last 12 games, helping Denver win eight of its last nine. Will Barton had 20 points and Jamal Murray and Mason Plumlee each scored 15 for the Nuggets.

Denver never trailed and led by as many as 23 points in the first half when its two 7-footers, Jokic and Plumlee, sat with three fouls each. The Grizzlies made a run and closed within 50-39 at the end of the first half, with the final points coming on a dunk by Brandon Clarke just before the horn.

PELICANS 120, PACERS 98

Brandon Ingram scored 24 points, Jrue Holiday added 20, and suddenly resurgent New Orleans beat visiting Indiana for its third straight victory.

JJ Redick scored 15 and Lonzo Ball 13, hitting four of eight 3-point shots as he continues to gain comfort with his new shooting motion this season.

Derrick Favors added 10 points and 16 rebounds as New Orleans won for the fourth time in five games after having lost a franchise-record 13 straight before that.

MAVS 141, WARRIORS 121

Luka Doncic had 31 points, 15 assists and 12 rebounds in his ninth triple-double of the season, and Dallas routed host Golden State.

Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 25 points, Kristaps Porzingis had 18 and Seth Curry added 17 off the bench for the Mavericks, who snapped the Warriors’ four-game winning streak.

D’Angelo Russell had 30 points and eight 3-pointers in the first half but injured his neck after falling and colliding with Dwight Powell during the third quarter. Russell returned for the start of the fourth, but the Warriors were down by 19 at that point.

CAVS 94, T-WOLVES 88

Darius Garland and Collin Sexton each scored 18 points, and Cleveland overcame an NBA season high-tying 29 turnovers to win at Minnesota.

Tristan Thompson added 12 points and 15 rebounds for the Cavaliers in an ugly game missing top scorers from both teams. Cleveland led for most the night before needing a quick rally to pull ahead for good in the fourth, and win for the fourth time in five games.

KNICKS 107, WIZARDS 100

Julius Randle scored 30 points and equaled a season high with 16 rebounds, Bobby Portis added 17 points, and New York won at Washington.

It was the Knicks’ second straight victory, just the second time this season they’ve won two straight. Both wins have come on the road.

BULLS 116, HAWKS 81

Lauri Markkanen had 25 points, Zach LaVine added 19, and host Chicago nearly led wire-to-wire in a victory over short-handed Atlanta.

The Hawks played without scoring leader Trae Young. He didn’t make the trip after spraining his right ankle in the second quarter Friday night in a home loss to Milwaukee.

BUCKS 111, MAGIC 100

Khris Middleton scored 21 points, and NBA-leading Milwaukee overcame Giannis Antetokoun­mpo’s absence for the second straight night, beating visiting Orlando.

Antetokoun­mpo, the NBA MVP last season, also missed the Bucks’ victory Friday in Atlanta because of back soreness.

SUNS 112, KINGS 110

Devin Booker had 32 points and 10 assists, and Phoenix held off a late surge to win at Sacramento and snap an eightgame losing streak.

SPURS 136, PISTONS 109

DeMar DeRozan had 29 points, LaMarcus Aldridge had 25 points and 12 rebounds, and host San Antonio hit a season-high 18 3-pointers in beating

Detroit.

HEAT 117, 76ERS 116

Jimmy Butler made the second of two free throws with 2.3 seconds left in overtime, giving host Miami a wild victory over Philadelph­ia.

LAKERS 128, BLAZERS 120

LeBron James had 21 points and 16 assists, Kyle Kuzma scored 24 points, and Los Angeles won at Portland.

JAZZ 120, CLIPPERS 107

Donovan Mitchell had 30 points and nine assists, Jordan Clarkson added 19 points, and Utah won at Los Angeles.

SCHRODER, ROZIER FINED

Oklahoma City Thunder guard Dennis Schroder was fined $25,000 by the NBA on Saturday for intentiona­lly making contact with a game official.

Upset after a turnover he thought should have been a foul call on Cody Zeller late in the third quarter of the Thunder’s 104-102 overtime victory in Charlotte on Friday night, Schroder approached referee CJ Washington at mid-court when play was stopped and grabbed at the official’s wrist to demonstrat­e what Zeller had done to him.

Charlotte guard Terry Rozier also was fined $25,000 for throwing the game ball into the stands at the end of regulation. He was assessed a technical foul.
