‘The Editor Ushers Out the Decade’

- POETRY by Jim LaVilla-Havelin

Angell we would hear on high each New Yorker

New Year, but I’ve decided end of decade is enough. Not decadent, nor decrepit as we enter the twenties, roaring, or not. Discord, disgrace, debacles, or not.

For all of you who’ve written ’em, read ’em, or just peeked at the words in something other than paragraphs — something other than tweets.

I hope we’ve said our piece, and peace to you something somehow somewhat easy to decode — a message plain and simple gift for the turning of the years.
