Texas may slam door on refugees
Though more refugees have resettled in Houston and Texas than any other city or state in the country, this may change soon under a new rule imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration requiring state and local governments to consent in writing before refugees can arrive next year. While mayors and county leaders of all Texas’ biggest cities — including Houston, San Antonio, Dallas and Austin — sent letters opting in, Gov. Greg Abbott has not.
