Laura Mayer shares real estate 2020 excitement

- By Rebecca Maitland

When you combine a fourth-generation Houstonian, a passionate personality, genuine interest in clients, almost two decades in real estate, and excellent market knowledge, you have Laura Mayer, a highly awarded real estate agent.

Mayer grew up in Memorial and lives inside the Loop, so she knows the area well.

At the University of Texas at Austin, she was working toward a bachelor’s in social work. Yet, in her junior year, she decided to take a more business-oriented path and began taking business courses such as accounting and marketing, and she maintained a high GPA.

“I completed my social work degree and went to a big firm in New York that was looking to train new graduates with diverse degrees in investment banking and private equity. I got the job and went to New York,” Mayer said.

After two years, she returned to Houston and began meeting with people from different industries to find a new career.

She met with a top Realtor with John Daugherty, Realtors and became sold on real estate. They hired her on the spot, and she obtained her licenses. She has been with John Daugherty ever since.

“I’m very excited about the future with John Daugherty, and the real estate market in 2020,” Mayer said.

Mayer’s focus areas are some of Houston’s finest neighborhoods — mainly inside the Loop, such as West University, where she calls home, River Oaks, and others, as well as Memorial and Bellaire.

She goes where her clients are interested in purchasing.

With her social worker degree and investment banking and private equity background, she brings a lot to her clients.

“Investment banking honed my skills in focusing on the numbers and financials, and trained me to be analytical. My social worker degree taught me to be a good listener and to focus on a person’s goals,” Mayer said.

She is also known for being a people-person, always available, warm, approachable, friendly, and hardworking to meet her clients’ goals, whether they are buyers or sellers.

Outside of the many awards she has received, such as being the youngest Realtor in John Daugherty’s Hall of Fame, continuous Top Producer and others, she has continued her education to ensure her clients receive the best service possible, such as obtaining the Certified Negotiation Specialist designation.

But most of all, her clients benefit from her background experiences, exceptional service, superb skills and her genuine caring attitude toward people.
