NANCY KROEGER
1957-2020
Nancy Kroeger joined the other angels in heaven on Tuesday January 7th in Houston, TX, surrounded by family and close friends. Nancy lost her valiant battle with cancer despite the best efforts of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. She never complained and never lost her dignity and her love for others, even wrapping Christmas presents in November and December last year.
Nancy is survived by her husband Michael, stepsons and stepdaughters Chris and Stacy of Keller, TX and Dustin and Christie of Plano, TX, and three lovely grandchildren Sage, Kysen, and Kate. In Georgia, she is survived by loving brother and sister Ronald and Glenda, and many nieces and nephews.
There wasn’t a job Nancy couldn’t do or learn to do.
She worked for Parks and Recreation in Gwinnett County, GA, as well as coaching girls youth basketball teams. As a cheerleader, she and her squad won many awards, back when participants sewed their own uniforms and the megaphones were really heavy. Nancy was a sales rep for Rich’s Department store, serving the high-end drapery market in Buckhead near Atlanta. After moving to Houston, she worked for Murray Rubber Company as a senior buyer. She also worked as a division analyst for an oil field production company and then joined Apollo Paper Company where she worked her way up to Division Manager after Apollo was sold to Landsberg.
Nancy’s love for animals was well known, ranging from a youthful exuberance for stray dogs and cats and flying squirrels, to a rescued translucent baby sparrow that grew up to fly around the pool in a crowd and still land on her shoulder. She also had turtles in an aquarium in her office that would get their daily exercise by running down the hallway and taking a left to Accounting every time!
The world is a brighter place because of the many lives Nancy so exceptionally touched.
A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held on a future date. Donations can be made in Nancy’s name to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
