Louisville holds on to edge Duke in key ACC clash

DURHAM, N.C. — Freshman David Johnson had a season-high 19 points and No. 11 Louisville hung on down the stretch to beat No. 3 Duke 79-73 in a key matchup in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s regular-season title chase

Malik Williams added two free throws with 16 seconds left and followed immediatel­y with a transition dunk off a turnover.

By the end, the Cardinals (15-3, 6-1 ACC) had claimed the only regularsea­son meeting between the teams and put themselves in a tie with No. 9 Florida State.

FLORIDA 69, AUBURN 47

Omar Payne had the best game of his college career, finishing with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and the host Gators upset the fourth-ranked Tigers.

It was Florida’s first victory against a top-five team since 2009.

Auburn (15-2, 3-2 Southeaste­rn Conference) has lost two straight following a torrid start.

DEPAUL 79, BUTLER 66

Paul Reed scored 23 points and Jalen ColemanLan­ds added 20 to lead the Blue Demons to an upset of the No. 5 Bulldogs at Chicago.

FLORIDA ST. 83 MIAMI, FLA. 79 (OT)

The No. 9-ranked Seminoles forced 24 turnovers, including three in a row in overtime, and rallied to earn their ninth consecutiv­e victory by beating the host Hurricanes.

Devin Vassell led Florida State with 23 points while adding 11 rebounds.

Florida State (16-2, 6-1 Atlantic Coast Conference), took over the top spot in the ACC with Duke’s loss to Louisville.

OREGON 64 WASHINGTON 61 (OT)

Payton Pritchard hit his sixth 3-pointer of the game with 3.4 seconds left in overtime as the No. 8 Ducks rallied from a 16point second-half deficit to stun the Huskies at Seattle.

The Ducks (15-4, 4-2 Pac-12) overcame a 48-32 deficit with 10:22 remaining to beat Washington (12-7, 2-4).

GONZAGA 92, BYU 69

Killian Tillie scored 22 points and Corey Kispert added 19 as the top-ranked Bulldogs won handily at home to improve to 20-1.

KENTUCKY 73 ARKANSAS 66

Nick Richards had 17 points and nine rebounds as the No. 10 Wildcats (13-4, 4-1 Southeaste­rn Conference) won at Fayettevil­le, Ark.

SAN DIEGO ST. 68 NEVADA 55

Yanni Wetzell had 17 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for the No. 7 Aztecs, who remain the nation’s only undefeated team with the home win.

Malachi Flynn scored 14 points for San Diego State (19-0, 8-0 Mountain West).

KANSAS ST. 84 WEST VIRGINIA 68

Cartier Diarra tied a career high with 25 points, and the Wildcats held off the No. 12 Mountainee­rs at Manhattan, Kansas

ARIZONA 75, COLORADO 54

Dylan Smith and Josh Green both scored 13 points and the Wildcats cruised past the No. 20 Buffaloes at Tucson, Ariz.

PENN ST. 90, OHIO ST. 76

Lamar Stevens scored 24 points as the host Nittany Lions beat the No. 21 Buckeyes.
