NCT 127 member Johnny told the Chronicle last year that the first things that come to mind when he thinks of Texas “are probably saying, ‘Howdy y’all,’ Texas barbecue, cowboys and cowboy hats.” RodeoHouston must have gotten the memo.

The K-pop group will be the first of its kind on the rotating stage. (Take that, BTS.) Members Taeyong, Taeil, Yuta, Jaehyun, Mark, Haechan, Johnny, Jungwoo and Doyoung are from Korea, Canada, Japan and the U.S. Several of them speak English. And the sound is a mix of pop, R&B, hip-hop and Latin trap.

The group’s U.S. debut album, “Regular-Irregular,” peaked at No. 1 on iTunes in 22 countries, and several dates on its 2019 North American tour were sold out. A new album, “Neo Zone,” is out March 6, just a few days before the RodeoHouston performance. Expect peak excitement inside the stadium.

NCT 127 is a sub-unit of the group NCT. The name combines the phrase “Neo Culture Technology” with the longitudinal coordinate for Seoul. The group’s appeal is much easier to explain, a combination of looks, charm and stylized choreography.

Three members of NCT 127 visited the Houston Zoo Sunday during last year’s local tour stop. So keep your eyes open when you’re roaming the livestock show.
