- From wire reports

A group of migrants Saturday tried to bring down a fence in a desperate attempt to get into Greece while others hurled rocks at police. Greek authorities responded, firing volleys of tear gas at the youths. At least two migrants were injured.

Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said more than 143,000 migrants have crossed into Greece, though reporters’ observations in northeastern Greece have said the figure seemed exaggerated. “This is just the beginning,” Soylu said. “You should watch what will happen next. What has happened so far is nothing.” Soylu said more migrants will be able to move toward the border as the weather becomes warmer and as Turkey increases security measures to counter Greek border pushbacks.
