GHBA celebrates 40th year of charity project in Sierra Vista

-

The Greater Houston Builders Association (GHBA), is celebrating its 40th anniversary of their charity fundraiser, the Benefit Homes Project. This project raises funds with the help of GHBA builder members who construct a home with donated materials, labor and services and then sells the home at market value. Proceeds from the sale benefit two local charities — HomeAid Houston and Operation Finally Home.

Another important component of the Benefit Homes Project is the homesite. Over the past 40 years, developers have donated two to three lots a year to ensure the Benefit Homes Project will continue to raise these valuable funds. Land Tejas, A Houston residential developer for 20 years, has delivered more than 28,000 homes across

16,500 acres. One of their communities is the site for a Benefit home this year. Land Tejas donated a lot to HistoryMaker Homes so they could construct their Alder plan for the fundraiser. With this donation, Land Tejas has generously reached their 17th lot donation for the Benefit Homes Project.

With the donation of their 17th lot, Land Tejas has contributed an estimated total value of more than $1,110,000.

HistoryMaker Homes recently completed its Benefit home. It is a 3,176-square-foot, two-story home featuring an open design with five bedrooms and four baths. This plan showcases a downstairs master bedroom and a game room upstairs, as well as a three-car garage.

“We are honored to partner with Land Tejas on this valuable fundraiser,” HistoryMaker Houston division president, Mickey Pizzitola said. “They have established a long history of innovative planning and development that has driven their success all around the Houston area. We are excited to have completed the home and look forward to showcasing it to the public.”

Vendors joining the HistoryMaker/Land Tejas team with their donated materials and services include, All Points Group, HomePro Technology, All State Brick, A C Construction, DPIS Builder Services, Excell Foundations, Universal Forest Products, Windstorm Group, Mohawk, TWI, Country Wide Roofing, Santollo Construction Clean Up LLC, Deep Blue Comfort, Carrier, Rock Materials, Builders Choice Inc., Royal Bath/ Counter Source, Flooring Services of Texas, Advantage Gutters, Factory Builder Stores, Sherwin Williams Paint, Builders First Source, Perfection Supply, Jacobs Overhead Door, Fashion Glass and Mirror, Datasmart Home Technologies, RT Masonry, Delta Faucet, Moore Home

“One of the very first things we did when setting up Land Tejas was to develop a partnership with the GHBA,” said Brende. “When they approached us with the first Benefit homes opportunity in 1998, we jumped at the chance. Not only does this cause help the greater Houston community, but it strengthens our bond with the builders who have been so loyal to us over the years. It is extremely gratifying to witness the impact the Benefit Homes Project has made by helping those in need. We are also honored to partner with HistoryMaker on this program and expect their home to sell quickly.”
