CONDO LIFE
Why condo residents love their homes.
First-hand experience is the best way to understand what condo residents love about living in a high-rise.
In Dorcondos.com’s blog, 5 Reasons Why Condo Living is the Best Kind of Living,
there are multiple components why residents find these homes so desirable.
These range from having a low-maintenance life to built-in amenities, living in the hottest locations, feeling safe and secure, as well as developing social ties in the community.
With the low-maintenance living aspect, not only do residents not have to worry about having to maintain a home with repairs and
yardwork, they also get the saving benefit of paying the condo fees that cover a wide range of amenities and services.
Hedley Karpas with Martha Turner Sotheby’s International Realty said various things appeal to highrise residents when they are choosing a condominium.
“Security is the No. 1 reason,” Karpas said. “Other reasons are the ease of ‘lockand-leave’ flexibility. Also, with Houston’s flooding situations, being in a highrise eliminates the worry of your home flooding.”
Feedback from Karpas’ clients has been positive.
“The amazing sense of security is what allows them to feel more relaxed. This is a side effect that the buyer does not typically realize just how much we stress over your family’s security,” said Karpas.
As a condo resident himself, Karpas can share from his own personal experience. When he and his wife were first married, they had lived in a high-rise condo, then went on to raise their children in a big house with a pool. Later, they decided it was time to revisit the condo lifestyle to simplify their lives.
Best of all, they get to live the life they want without any worries.
“We now travel without having to deal with setting the house up to go away,” Karpas said. “When we have a freeze, I don’t have to worry about wrapping the pipes or covering the plants so they do not freeze.”
There’s a lot Karpas loves about being a condo resident. “At first, it’s the amazing views you get, then that becomes secondary, and what becomes important to you is the strong sense of security, having a pool, gym, and gardens that you do not have to maintain or meet repair technicians,” he said.
He also appreciates how attentive the building’s staff is to residents.
“The staff who work in the building go out of their way to make sure you are happy to be home,” said Karpas.
However, there can be a downside occasionally if there’s construction, he added.
“Living in a hi-rise, you are living in a community,”
Karpas said. “If someone is doing work on their condo, chances are you will hear some noise. Good news is this can only happen on certain days and times. So, from time to time you will have some inconveniences.”
If you are thinking about living in a condo, Karpas said you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
“If you’re done with big pets and ready to simplify and enjoy your life, give it a try,” he said.
