Phillips’ real estate license says ‘Texas’

- By Rebecca Maitland CORRESPONDENT

Bill Phillips’ real estate license says “Texas,” and much of the state is where he helps clients.

“I work with a lot of relocation clients and go where they are interested, wherever that might lead. But many are looking in and around Houston,” said native Texan Phillips, a Realtor with Douglas Elliman.

Phillips earned a sports scholarship to Texas Lutheran University, where he earned a degree in art.

“For 20 years, my brother and I owned an art, antiques and interior design business, and we had locations all over the country. We worked with companies of all sizes and interior designers, and architects. We negotiated deals and prices, and ran a successful business. Then it was time for a change,” he said.

A Realtor friend of Phillips talked to him about becoming an agent and so he took the leap, got his licenses, and has never looked back.

And with his eye for interior design, architecture, art, negotiations, renovations and solid business experience, his clients benefit from his knowledge and experience, and are also often repeat clients and heavily refer others to him.

He also has continued his education to ensure his clients receive the best possible service. For example, he holds Accredited Buyers Representative and Accredited Luxury Home Specialist designations.

Phillips enjoys working with all his clients in all price points, from those seeking luxury homes to first time home buyers.

“Working with all my clients, especially firsttime home buyers, is an honor and a joy, as I educate them on each step of the process, walking with them through the transaction,” he said.

Phillips is also known for being patient, understanding, friendly, honest, available for clients, having integrity, and being a micromanager in as much as he stays on top of all the details so the transaction will go as smoothly as possible.

Speaking of Phillips’ patience, he served one couple who were polar opposites of each other, so finding them a home was a

challenge. He was happy to help as he showed them over 90 homes before they found one that suited both their personalities and wants.

For Phillips, it is important to quickly return calls, show homes when clients are available, and be there to answer questions. Yet, to help make this possible 24/7, he has an assistant who is a licensed Realtor.

“I love people and I love what I do. I will do this until the day I die, and I cannot imagine doing anything else,” he said.
