Luxury condo kitchens have homeowners cooking with ease

- By Valerie Sweeten CORRESPONDENT

A beautiful kitchen where family and friends gather around good food and drinks is the heart of any home, including luxury condominiums.

Designers have addressed all the needs and wants of consumers looking to make a condo their home, which has become even more important during these pandemic times. Today’s kitchens have been finessed with an interior designer and architect’s expertise giving the homeowner functionality, maximum comfort, and visually pleasing spaces with top-of-the-line materials and equipment.

Realtor Casey Ebel with

Elevated Group, Compass, said kitchens in condominiums lend themselves to open space concepts that are popular for entertainment and gatherings.

“It is important that the kitchen flows into the living space to accommodate those gatherings, even if the gatherings are limited to family. Cooking has become a family event, so you need the space for everyone to be involved,” Ebel said.

Some of the more popular features buyers are looking for range from paneled appliances to low-maintenance, highperformance countertops, and custom organization elements for drawers and cabinets.

“They also are looking for smart home technology,” said Ebel. “Lighting is key as well. Proper lighting can make a kitchen feel larger and more open. It can also do the opposite if it is not done well.”

Today’s luxury condos on the market offer the latest trends in kitchen design, Ebel said. One is the induction cooktop.

“Induction cooking uses electromagnetic waves to heat the pots or pans directly instead of heating the surface, which allows for instantaneous heat. This process allows you to boil water in a matter of seconds and it distributes the heat across the entire cooking surface evenly. They are energy-efficient, provide a sleek look and they are easy to maintain,” said Ebel.

Additional trends homeowners are enjoying are smart appliances that are WiFi enabled and controlled by an app as well as barista-style builtin coffee machines, singlebasin sinks, running countertops up the backsplash, and elimination of kitchen hardware with either push-to-open cabinets or built-in grooves.

“At The Parklane, Bosch has an app called Home Connect to work with their smart appliances,” Ebel said.

Regarding appliances, there are so many great choices in condo kitchens.

Find smart ovens that pre-heat before getting home from work and adjust temperatures while away from the kitchen, custom-paneled refrigerators/freezers, wine fridges, microwaves with convection capabilities to eliminate the need for double ovens.

Best of all, personalizing and upgrading your kitchen is an option.

“They can choose the finish of their cabinets, countertops and backsplash. They can also customize the accessories within the cabinets. At The Parklane, all of our cabinets are provided by Eggersmann,” said Ebel.
