Creating a pictureperfect desktop

- Helpline@chron.com

Q: The background of my desktop on my Windows 10 computer won’t stop changing. It changes to random pictures that seem to be frommy iPhone. I have tried to disable it, but have had no luck. Do you knowthe fix?

A: Windows 10 has a few different ways it can manage your desktop background image. In this case, it sounds like you have managed to enable the slideshow option and the slideshow is pulling image that you have synced from your phone to your

PC. They are probably in your Picture folder as the content. To turn this off, click on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of your screen and then click on the gear icon to open Settings.

In the windows that pops up, click on Personalization and select Background. You will see a drop-down menu that has three choices: Picture, Solid Color and Slide Show.

Change it from Slide

Show to Picture and choose the image you want to use.

If you decide you want to use the Slide Show option again, you can customize it to use images from a specific folder. I have a folder with all ofmy favorite photos in it that I use that formy slideshow background.

Q: I recently installed the newversion of Microsoft Office onmy MacBook Pro. After the install, before I even launched any of the apps, I received a pop up that said “Required Data Notice.” Is this some kind of malware thatwas included withmy software?

A: What you are seeing is not malware. It is a notification from the Microsoft AutoUpdate application included with Office for the Mac to let you know how Microsoft collects diagnostic data. The notice also provides information on how to opt out of the data collection should one care to do so. The reason it’s there is to help Microsoft comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) laws in the European Union.

It’s nothing to be concerned about and you will only see this message once if you click on OK to acknowledge that you’ve read it.
