Elderly woman badly injured in fire at home

An elderly woman was critically injured early Saturday in a residential fire in northwest Harris County, officials said.

The Champions Fire Department responded about 2 a.m. to the 5300 block of Theall in the Greenwood Forest neighborhood, said Rachel Neutzler of the Harris County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters found flames and smoke coming from one side of the home, Neutzler said. They rescued a woman found burned inside the home and started CPR. Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital in critical condition.

Officials are conducting an investigation into the origin of the fire.
