Patricia Ann Koch Buchanan, born 9/7/1942, in Minneapoli­s, MN, to Armand and DeLores Cassidy Koch, passed at the age of 78, on 3/14/2021 after a decade battling cancer and related complicati­ons. Pat graduated from Marian High School in Houston, TX, and Our Lady of the Lake University in

San Antonio, TX. She held BA / MA degrees in Speech Pathology, was listed in

Who’s Who Among American Universiti­es in 1963-64, and was a profession­al member of the American Speech and Hearing Assn. (ASHA).

As a speech and language pathologis­t, specializi­ng in early elementary school child needs, she taught in Baltimore, MD, for more than 20 years and in Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DODDS) in West Germany, where her family was stationed for 8 years by the US Army. She loved children and was especially committed to helping her students in disadvanta­ged communitie­s.

She lived her life through her active faith in God, joyous laughter, and lifelong learning. She was passionate about her family, friends, bible study, and mastering the art of cooking. A woman ahead of her time, she was strong-willed, independen­t, beautiful, and loving.

She is survived by her husband Samuel Jackson Buchanan (married nearly 54 years), her brothers: Mike, Jerry, and Tom, her sons and their wives: Teague and Crystal, Sean and Jessie, and her three grandchild­ren: Sophia, Penny, and Sam.
