Chesmar sells GHBA Benefit home in Lago Mar

-

Delbert and Amey Rice became the owners of the 2021 Greater Houston Builders Association’s Chesmar Benefit home on Friday, May 21. Chesmar built its Hillcrest plan in Lago Mar with donated materials and services from GHBA members. This allowed the home to be built at low cost, ensuring that when sold, proceeds would go to two local charities — Operation Finally Home and HomeAid Houston. Since the Project began 41 years ago, more than $12 million has been raised.

The Hillcrest plan is a one-story design that features four bedrooms with a game room option; three baths, a two-car attached garage and a covered patio.

An extended foyer leads to open casual dining, a family room, and an island kitchen with additional countertop dining. The study is convenient to the common area and the master suite.

“We were thrilled with the Hillcrest floor plan,” said Delbert Rice. “It is what we’d been looking for.” The Rice family also was happy their purchase would help the two charities. Proceeds will help wounded veterans and their families returning from duty and the homeless of Houston.

Scott Merovitch, city president for Chesmar Homes and Aimee Bertrand, CEO of the GHBA were on-hand to celebrate the closing and to thank the Rice family for purchasing the home.

“We are thrilled that Mr. and Mrs. Rice were excited to buy this home in Lago Mar,” said Merovitch. “By purchasing this home, the funds go back into the community to better the lives of those less fortunate.”

This is Chesmar’s seventh Benefit home and it is Land Tejas’ 18th lot donation for the Benefit Homes Project.
