Dorothy Ann Howard Johnson died on June 24, 2021 in Houston, Texas. She was born August 23, 1930, in Canandaigu­a, New York, the daughter of Dr. John Wendell Howard and Dorothy

Louise Mahan Howard. After graduating from Syracuse University and Katharine Gibbs School in Boston, she came to Houston in the fall of 1952, where she met and married her husband, Carroll Allen Johnson. Dorothy went to work for Humble Oil & Refining Company (now ExxonMobil Corporatio­n), from which she retired in 1993. In her retirement she became a docent for The Heritage Society, was a charter member of the DOLS, was member of the Nottingham Blue Chippers Investment Club, Secretary and later President of Nottingham Civic Associatio­n, a charter member and membership chair for the Friends of the Texas Room, a member of the Alexander Love Chapter, NSDAR, a member of the mailing committee for the Museum of Fine

Arts – Houston, a member of Clayton Library Friends and Houston Genealogic­al Forum. She spent many hours taking classes at The Women’s Institute, where she was a member of the Board. She spent many hours working on genealogy projects and traveling. She is survived by her daughter,

Joel’ Ann Johnson and her husband Jonas B. Esqueda and step grandson Christophe­r M. Esqueda of Houston and wife Jenny Esqueda; by her son, Eric E. Johnson and his wife Patricia K. Johnson and step granddaugh­ter, Nicole Anspach Johnson of Conroe; by great grand-son Drake Johnson Uzell and by great granddaugh­ter Alexandra Uzell, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded by her friend and housekeepe­r for 55 years, Nettie Mae Williams, known to family and friends as “Billie”. There will be a memorial service at The Sonesta Hotel, 2222 West Loop South, Houston, Texas, Saturday, July 31, 2021 at 11:00am, followed by a luncheon.
