FAITH EICHLER
1940-2021
Faith Eichler passed away peacefully surrounded by Team Faith on Wednesday, July 7, at her home in Houston. Born in Erie, Pennsylvania on October 29, 1940, she was proud to be from Erie. Faith left home after high school to join God’s Volunteers, an evangelical singing group, traveling the Northwest U.S. and Canada.
She attended Moody
Bible Institute singing in the Moody Chorale. After graduation, she moved to California and worked as secretary at Fountain Avenue Baptist Church in LA. She joined Robert Schuller’s “Hour of Power” at the Crystal Cathedral as part of the broadcasting team. Faith moved to Houston and in 1979 began her employment at ExxonMobil where she remained until retirement in 2004.
Retirement came naturally as she spent time traveling, reading, watching old movies, and dining with friends. She was named appropriately as faith was the grounding force in her life. Never was her faith more on display than when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in 2014. Throughout her illness, she demonstrated a resilient spirit, braveness, and gratitude for life.
But where Faith shined brightest was in her witty personality and love of music. Blessed with a beautiful singing voice, she shared her gift over the years singing for special occasions and in church choirs. She found her choir home at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church where she was a member until her death.
She was preceded in death by parents, Robert and Louise Eichler, brother Gary, and beloved cat Maddie. She is survived by her twin brother, Paul (Sharon), brother Steve (Maria), and sister-in law Shirley; nephew Greg Eichler; nieces Janet Archer, Linda Rauguth, Terri Mello, Crystal Phelps, and many greatnephews and great-nieces.
A musical celebration of Faith’s life will be held on Friday, July 16, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends for Life (www.friends4life.org) and St. Luke’s United Methodist Church (www.stlukesmethodist.org) – Friends of Music.
