Mark Leon Shackelfor­d passed away peacefully in Cedar Park, Texas on June 24, 2021.

Mark was born September 25, 1962, in Denver, Colorado to H. Leon Shackelfor­d and A. Coralie Fry Shackelfor­d Rice. Most of Mark’s formative years were spent in Houston, Texas. During those years, he was actively involved in sports at Memorial High School where he had many close friends. Mark was a gifted athlete who lettered in varsity football and track.

A Texan at heart, Mark eventually returned to

Austin and began working with Christian Compassion Center. This organizati­on was devoted to helping people in need, and Mark felt as if he had found his purpose in life.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, H. Leon Shackelfor­d, his mother, A. Coralie Rice, and his step-father, W. Jerome Rice. Mark is survived by his stepmother, Sara Shackelfor­d; his sister, Kelli L. Shackelfor­d Jones; his step-brother, Mark Davis and wife, Twila; his step-brother, Jerry Rice; his step-sister, Rochelle Grant and husband, Scott; his niece, Krysten Jones; his nephews, Keith Jones and Nicholas Davis. Mark is also survived by his Aunt Nancy and Uncle Mike Spangler, as well as his dear cousins.

In addition to family members, Mark is survived by some wonderful friends who were a part of his family. These friends include Steve Leach, David Barr, Marc Grosz (deceased) and Anne Grosz, among others. They surrounded Mark with love, care and friendship for many, many years.
