Braves’ Acuna Jr. out for the year

MIAMI — Braves star Ronald Acuna Jr. will undergo season-ending surgery after suffering a complete tear of the ACL in his right knee during Atlanta’s 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins on Saturday.

An MRI showed the severity of the injury and the Braves made the announceme­nt late Saturday night.

Acuna had been slated to start in the outfield for the NL All-Star team in Tuesday’s game, his third appearance. He was carted off the field after landing awkwardly after jumping on the warning track in right field to try to catch a drive from Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth inning.

RAYS 5, BLUE JAYS 2: Brandon Lowe homered twice and Mike Zunino also connected, helping host Tampa Bay defeat Toronto for the Ray’s sixth consecutiv­e win.

PHILLIES 11, RED SOX 2: Jean Segura and Alec Bohm homered, and Philadelph­ia snapped Boston’s nine-game home winning streak.

ROCKIES 3, PADRES 0: German Marquez allowed three hits and struck out nine in seven scoreless innings and Charlie Blackmon drove in two runs as Colorado won at San Diego.

GIANTS 10, NATIONALS 4: All-Star Brandon Crawford had three hits, including his 18th home run, and San Francisco thumped Washington at home. Anthony DeSclafani pitched three-hit ball over six scoreless innings.

WHITE SOX 8, ORIOLES 3: Brian Goodwin had four hits, including a solo homer, and drove in three runs as Chicago won at Baltimore.

REDS 4, BREWERS 3: Eugenio Suarez hit a home run in the ninth inning against All-Star closer Josh Hader and Cincinnati won at Milwaukee.

MARINERS 2, ANGELS 0: Seattle starter Chris Flexen held Los Angeles to three hits in seven scoreless innings and Luis Torrens added an RBI triple as the Mariners won at home.

CARDINALS 6, CUBS 0: Paul Goldschmid­t, Paul DeJong and Tommy Edman homered in the fifth inning and Kwang Hyun Kim struck out seven in six innings as St. Louis won at Chicago.

TWINS 9, TIGERS 4: Jorge Polanco hit a go-ahead three-run homer in the seventh inning and Minnesota rallied from a four-run deficit to beat Detroit at Minneapoli­s.

INDIANS 14, ROYALS 6: Cesar Hernandez and Oscar Mercado each hit a three-run homer, and Cleveland won at home. Hernandez’s 15th homer capped a six-run fourth inning against Mike Minor (6-8).

PIRATES, METS SPLIT A PAIR: Pete Alonso homered, Jeff McNeil drove in two runs and the New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 4-2 for a doublehead­er split. In the opener, Tyler Anderson pitched five innings and hit a tie-breaking homer, leading Pittsburgh to a 6-2 victory at New York.
