Trae tha Truth Day turns into a weekend

- By Andrew Dansby STAFF WRITER andrew.dansby@chron.com

Trae tha Truth has appeared fairly busy this summer, working on a new album and opening up an ice cream shop in Katy. One could give him a pass for skipping out on Trae Day. But instead, Trae has doubled down on his annual event, even expanding it.

First up will be the actual Trae Day concert, held July 23 at White Oak Music Hall. No lineup yet, but it has been billed as “Trae tha Truth and Friends,” and he has a lot of friends.

The following day, his Trae Day Family Fun Outing will return after missing last year because of the pandemic. The event is set for 3 p.m. at Aveva Stadium, 12131 Kirby. As billed, the annual event is for Trae enthusiasts of all ages, with appearances by some of his musical pals, a procession of slabs, rides, games, animals and school supply and backpack giveaways. A flyer for the event also promises “snow.”

Then on July 25, he’ll host Trae Day Weekend Funny By Nature Comedy Festival at House of Blues. So far, comedians listed to take the stage are: HaHa Davis, Reedo Brown, B. Simone, Kerwin Claiborne and Desi Banks.

Trae Day/Weekend completed, the rapper will then likely turn his attention to his new album “48 Hours After.”
