ROBERT RAMSEY ALLRED “FRED”

1943-2021

-

Fred was born December 18, 1943, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, to Clarence and Margaret Allred. He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur, and graduated from Lamar University. A long time Houston resident and business owner, Fred died Sunday July 11, 2021, 7:32 pm. at MD Anderson from complications of prostate cancer.

According to Fred, growing up in Port Arthur was idyllic. He loved and remembered everything, and it was all wonderful. He had a memory that was beyond compare from then to now.

He had always been passionate about music, all music, and worked in different aspects of the record industry, including the Groove Record Shop, until he opened his beloved All records in 1980.

His store was not just about sales but personal relationships with his customers and the common bond was music. He made a lot of wonderful and dear friends during his 40 years at All records and what made him the happiest was to share his love of music, sports and life in general. One of his friends said

“Fred was a Magical Mystery Tour of information, I never knew what I would learn, I was always charmed and surprised”.

Fred is survived by Liza Crain Allred, his cherished wife of 44 years, and his two beloved sons, Ramsey Allred and Kyle Allred, by his sister Marg E Woodworth, her husband George and their children Amy, Ashley and Amanda, and by his brothers and sisters in law Danny and Kirsten Crain, Gene Crain, AnnieVive Crain Palm (Tomas), Sandy Parkerson and Joe Nelson, and his many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Many, many thanks to the wonderful and caring doctors, nurses and staff of MD Anderson you were all so very kind to my sweet husband.

A gathering to celebrate Fred’s life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Fred’s honor and memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
