Gilbertine (Gil) Carroll died peacefully in Houston, Texas on July 5, 2021.

Gil was born March 22, 1947 in Perryton, Texas to Gilbert and Dannie Mize.

She graduated Perryton High School in 1965 and attended the University of Texas at Austin.

In 1980, Gil and husband John founded Carroll Insurance Agency which they owned and operated until their retirement in 2001.

Gil volunteere­d her time to several ministries at Bear Creek United Methodist Church and enjoyed her weekly bridge games with her neighborho­od friends.

The love of Gil’s life was her husband John with whom she shared a passion for traveling the world; something they did until his death in 2019. Their love and devotion to one another over their 42year marriage set a shining example for everyone.

Gil is survived by her son Gary (Nathalie) Carroll, sister Sara Lovett, nieces Judy

(Rob) Schurrer, Tess LovettStri­ckland and Holly (Chris) Thurman; and by children from husband John’s first marriage David (Gennilu) Carroll, daughter Linda (Bill) Knecht, and grandchild­ren Jason (Samantha) Knecht, Courtney Martin, Christophe­r Knecht (Becky Littlefiel­d), Elisabeth (Michael) Silva, David (Stephanie) Carroll, and Derek (Lacey) Knecht, along with eleven great grandchild­ren.

A celebratio­n of Gil’s life will be held Saturday August 7th, 2021 at 2:00pm at Bear Creek United Methodist Church, 16000 Rippling Water Drive, Houston, TX 77084. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Gil’s name to Bear Creek United Methodist Church, or to the Gilbert Mize Scholarshi­p Fund, c/o Perryton Rotary Club P.O. Box 615, Perryton, TX 79070.
