Sugar Land, Texas - James Aloys “Jim” Kisel, 74, died

July 22, 2021 in Sugar Land, Texas

He was born November 2, 1946, in Pueblo, Colorado the son of Ollie and Mary Kisel. The family then moved to Lakin, Kansas where he attended Lakin Public schools. He was well known for his athletic ability in several sports. He graduated from Lakin High School in 1964.

He continued his track & field career at Hutchinson Community College, Fort Hayes State University and Emporia State University all in Kansas. He married Becky Rife in 1967 in Hutchinson, Kansas and graduated from Emporia State University in 1969 with a B.S. in Business Management.

Following college, he started his career in the auto industry at Ford Motor Company in Kansas City, Missouri. In 1973 he became the owner/ operator of Per Hoel Ford in Liberal, Kansas. During this time, he served as the Ford Dealer Council President and was active in the community where he made lifelong friends and coached Kids Inc. sports. His career in this industry eventually took him to Wichita, Kansas and Elkhart, Indiana. During these years he enjoyed many weekends at Kansas State University and Notre Dame watching football and hosting tailgates.

After his career in the auto industry, he moved to Texas to be near his children and was able to pursue a lifelong dream of teaching and coaching at Stafford and Sealy school districts. He worked in special education and volunteere­d with Special Olympics and the Brookwood Community

He enjoyed playing golf, Coors Light and live music. Whether you met him for 5 minutes or knew him a lifetime he always found a way to make you feel special. He was loved by all, and he got everything out of life he possibly could have.

Survivors include, a son, Jake (Darci) Kisel of Surfside, Texas and daughters, Molly Kisel and Mandy Kisel both of Houston, Texas. Grandson, Tucker (Heather) Kisel of Wichita, Kansas and Granddaugh­ter, Tibor Kisel of Lafayette, Louisiana and Fiance Marlene Keplinger of Richmond, Texas. Becky Kisel, Houston, Texas and Jody Kisel of Bonita Springs, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Carol Grauberger and Barbara DeMain

A celebratio­n of life has been planned for Saturday, August 7 from 3-6 at Clancy’s Public House at 503 FM

359 Rd, 118, Richmond, TX 77406. We invite all to join us to raise a toast to Jim.

Celebratio­ns in Lakin, Liberal, Wichita, Manhattan and South Bend are also being planned for later dates.
