ANNE HENSGEN GALLIGAN

1927-2021

-

On Tuesday, the 27th of July 2021, our sweet, beautiful, precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and best friend, Anne Hensgen Galligan, passed from this life to rest in the arms of Jesus Christ and His Blessed Mother.

Anne was born on the

21st of December 1927, in

St. Louis, Missouri, to Emile Gerard Hensgen and Mary Ellen Conboy Hensgen. She had one older sister, Maureen Hensgen Barry. Anne attended Nerinx Hall and then Webster College until she married Dr. Arthur Wallace Wagner with whom she bore and raised her five daughters.

In 1959 Anne boarded a TWA airplane with her five daughters, all dressed alike, to travel to the wild west town of Houston, Texas, where her husband had a position on the University of Texas Dental Branch faculty. At the age of forty-three, Anne began her career with Shell Oil Company.

After the death of her first husband, Anne met and married her beloved James Joseph Galligan. They were married until his death in 1980.

After retiring from Shell, Anne spent her time traveling with friends and family, watching and cheering for the Houston Astros and St. Louis Cardinals, and most of all giving comfort, strength and unconditional love to her family.

Anne is survived by her five daughters, Nancy Rehill and her husband Ronald, Mary Catherine Moore and her husband Gary, Renee Clark and her husband Dennis, Lynn Robertson, and Terri Powers and her husband Richard.

She was the proud grandmother of eleven grandchildren, Kathleen Wellman, Paul Schroeder and his partner Michael Huffines, Noel Schroeder Moore and her husband John, Heather Hennessy Smith and her husband Michael, Kimberly Dickinson Jones and her husband Ken, Robert Dickinson, Donald Snow and his fiancée Lauren Duncan, Will Graham and his wife Alysia, Douglas Graham, Michael Gary Moore, and Heather Rehill Garcia and her husband Josh. Nothing could make Anne smile like a visit from or picture of one her ten great-grandchildren, Ben, Eden, Abby, Joseph, Elizabeth, Wesley, Jonathan, Olivia, Vincent and Willow Elizabeth.

Great appreciation is extended to Dr. Robert Hust and Anne’s exceptional team of Houston Methodist doctors and nurses who worked miracles to extend her time with her family.

A visitation with the family is to be held from three o’clock until five o’clock in the afternoon on Monday, the

2nd of August, in the drawing room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston

A Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, the 3rd of August, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 6800 Buffalo Speedway in Houston.

The Rite of Committal will immediately follow, via escorted cortege, at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston.
