1936-2021

-

ROY HORACE UECKERT, 84, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on July 28, 2021.

Roy was born in Gay Hill, Texas on August 12, 1936 to Raymond Gus Ueckert and Ruby Bertha Boeker Ueckert. At a young age, the family of nine moved to Houston where Roy graduated from Jefferson Davis High School. Roy attended Draughon’s Business School and began night classes at the University of Houston. It was during this time that he met his beloved wife of 45 years, Jean Nell Bertsch, while enrolled in an accounting class at U of H. In 1956, he began his career at Thornhill-Craver Co., an oil field equipment manufacturing company, where he was passionate about his work. He eventually retired as Vice President of Operations in 1987. Afterwards he enjoyed employment by Flanges and Rayco in sales. Roy was a steadfast member of Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire for over 47 years, bringing his family up in the faith.

Roy is survived by his loving daughters, Valerie Ueckert Milholland and husband, Doug, and Stacie Ueckert Smith and husband, Bob. He dearly loved his grandchildren, Mark and Meredith Milholland, and Rebekah Jean, Tyler and Cash Smith. He is also survived by sister-in-law, Grace Shoup, brothers-in-law, Gilbert Freudenberg and Wayne Bertsch, and wife, Lea, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Roy is preceded in death by his wife, Jean, and his infant son, Troy D’wayne Ueckert, his parents, and six siblings: Delores Utter, Raymond Jr., Waldo, his twin brother, Ray, Bonnie Freudenberg and Johnny.

Roy loved work and accomplishing tasks. He enjoyed the outdoors and found great satisfaction in a beautifully manicured lawn, clearing fence lines, and working at his country place. He dearly loved spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren. Pawpaw, an upright man of great character, will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at Faith Lutheran Church in Bellaire from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Kerry Nelson will officiate. Burial will follow at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Bellaire, TX, or the American Cancer Society.
