Realtor enjoys working with clients from all walks of life

Moira Holden, Realtor with Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene, explained there is never a “dull day” in real estate, and that’s why she loves it.

Working with buyers and sellers from all walks of life as well as range of cultures, personalities and expectations keeps Holden on her toes.

“I’m fascinated and honored to work with generations of the same family,” Holden said. “There are empty nesters transitioning from their family homes to in-town living, and when college kids come home, rent in Midtown then buy in the Heights, and later when kids arrive, move back out to the suburbs.”

Holden, whose focus area is inside the Loop 610, Memorial, the Energy Corridor, Sugar Land and Katy, said there’s a wide variety of people to work with as a great number are international transferees through the oil industry.

“My knowledge allows me to help clients make their decision based on the type of lifestyle/ schools/commute time they are looking for. Some areas are suburban and ideal for families, and young individuals want to be in a social community such as Midtown while empty nesters like the Heights or Upper Kirby,” said Holden.

Holden, a Scotland native, moved here in 1995 when her husband’s job transferred him. Today, she resides in Upper Kirby and has previously lived in Sugar Land.

To date, she has been in the relocation and real estate industry for 21 years.

“Moving here from overseas made me aware of how the real estate transaction in Texas varies from different countries. In Scotland, the deal is done with one signature, and plus here there are property taxes, homeowners associations, escrow, and checks. Few expats even own a checkbook,” she said.

Holden chose this career after getting involved with the International School PTA and serving as the Welcome Convenor before becoming the president.

“I enjoyed meeting newcomers and introducing them to Houston,” Holden said. “When I got my visa, I was offered a job as an international destination consultant, which led me to real estate.”

Prior to real estate, Holden was the manager of the Aberdeen Petroleum Country Club in Aberdeen, Scotland.

For the last nine years, she achieved the Emerald Elite Award as well as the designation of being number one in the company for four of those years.

Her certifications include Luxury Home Marketing, Master Negotiating Certification, and International Real Estate Designation.
