Abbott calls new special session

Gov. Greg Abbott called state legislators back to Austin for another special session Saturday, putting pressure on fugitive Democrats who fled to Washington, D.C., last month to derail a GOP elections bill. The governor is following through on a threat to continue calling back-toback special sessions until the Legislature passes the voting bill and other conservative priorities that did not pass during the regular session this year. Texas House Democrats were still absent as the session convened.
