Mixed messages: cut fossil fuels, ramp up oil production
OPEC output
Regarding “OPEC's report, delta variant to drive oil prices this week,” (Aug. 9): How precious is it that our president, who is promoting green energy, cutting U.S. oil production, and stopping pipeline development, is now asking OPEC to increase production. Won’t this make us more oil dependent on the Middle East? On one hand, we cut fossil fuels here to decrease carbon production, but then we ask OPEC to increase oil output and thereby increase carbon production. Is it me or does all this seem a bit counterintuitive?
