ROBERT STEPHEN LEWIS (“BOBBY”)
1962-2021
Robert Stephen Lewis (“Bobby”) passed away on August 8, 2021 at the age of 59. Bobby was born on April 9, 1962 in Freeport, Texas to John Stephen Lewis and Gestle Louise McMath. Bobby’s grandparents, Lawrence and Maxine Mitchell, had a strong presence in his upbringing. Bobby grew up in an environment where life was driven by hard work and straight talk. It is safe to say, you knew where you stood when being around Bobby. His hands-on work ethic and intellect led him to explore and excel at many endeavors. Bobby’s passions included fishing, hunting, photography, leatherwork, auto restoration, shooting, gunsmithing and reloading, fly fishing and fly tying, sky diving and his beloved Houston Astros. He was one to teach and share his interests. A notable example is introducing his sister, Susan, to the daring world of sky diving. Bobby never went half-way on anything; he was all-in, studying the area to the nth degree. For this, he earned the nickname “Bo Knows”. Bobby enjoyed community, and attended Sugar Creek Baptist Church.
Bobby’s professional life brought him to Houston. After graduating from Texas State University, he joined an accounting firm to begin his career. He progressed from the accounting field into operations through several notable Houston companies, including Allwaste, Inc., PSC and Total Safety U.S., Inc.
His work led him to reside in areas across the U.S. from Southern California to Delaware, and in Europe as well. Bobby was most comfortable in an operations environment running a project or just helping people in their daily work. Through these affiliations and his varied hobbies, Bobby earned the trust and respect of so many that make up his circles of friends and “extended family” today. He left an indelible imprint on so many lives.
His mother and grandparents preceded him in death. In addition to countless friends, Bobby is survived by his family: his father,
John Stephen Lewis; his two sisters, Susan Lewis and Cat Huss; his brother, Eric Huss; his aunt, Barbara Lovern; cousin, Chris Wright and his nephew, Benjamin Solis and his family.
