Georgette Lavina Person, 91 and Houston resident for 48 years, passed away on 26 July 2021. Born in Pacific Grove, CA, she was the only child of Georgette LaVigna Hendricks and Merle F. Hendricks. Georgette completed high school in 1946 at 16 in Oak Ridge, TN, the Atomic City. She earned a BS degree in Public Health at UC Berkley in 1951. During college, Georgette met a handsome sailor, Ross Person, while roller skating. Once Ross earned his aviator wings, they were married 5 Dec 1952. As a Navy couple, they moved to numerous duty stations.

Before marrying, Georgette worked as a lab tech in San Jose, CA. As an empty nester, Georgette recertifie­d her credential­s in Texas. In 1978, she worked in a lab in the St Joseph Prof Bldg and then Memorial City Hospital lab as a microbiolo­gist, retiring in 1995.

Georgette volunteere­d at Navy Relief, Planned Parenthood and as a Girl Scout leader. In Houston, Georgette was a member of Pines Presbyteri­an Church for 37 years. She was a member of the Spring Shadows Garden Club and a Harris County Master Gardener.

She volunteere­d with The Women’s Home Craft Marketing group. Georgette was a fabulous seamstress, great cook, gracious hostess and incomparab­le pie baker.

Georgette was preceded in death by her parents and Ross, her loving husband of 54 years. She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl LeBlanc and husband Louis; son, David and wife Johnnie; grandchild­ren, David LeBlanc and wife Annie, Sam LeBlanc and Michael LeBlanc and many relatives of the Person family.
