Thomas Jefferson Wray, 72, of Hendersonv­ille, NC, passed away on August 10th.

Jeff was born in Nashville, Tennessee to William and Imogene Wray and was the oldest of three children.

Jeff graduated from Emory University in 1971 with honors. He then attended the University of Virginia School of Law and graduated with his J.D. in 1974.

Jeff married Susan Elizabeth Wells in 1972, and they were married for 49 years. They had two children, Clark and Caroline.

Jeff joined the firm of Fulbright & Jaworski in Houston, Texas in July of 1974, where he represente­d employers in all aspects of labor and employment law until his retirement in 2016. He became a partner in 1982 and served as the head of the firm’s labor and employment practice for five years. He was inducted into The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 1997.

Jeff enjoyed gardening in his free time and was a member of the Asheville Blue Ridge Rose Society.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Beth; his brother, Billy Wray; sister, Susan DeMoss; and his two children, Clark Wray (Julee) and Caroline Wray Fox (Daniel). He is also survived by his three grandchild­ren: Audree Wray, Rowan Fox, and Hadley Fox.

A memorial service will be held in Houston on a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to Emory University, the University of Virginia School of Law, or the Garden Club of Houston.
