Message is a sign browser cannot connect
Q: While using the search on MS Edge, Firefox and Google Chrome, I occasionally get the message “Hmmm can’t locate that page.” When using the troubleshooter link, it tells me my DNS server is wrong. I changed it to the DNS server of my ISP, and that still did not help. For MS Edge, it says to do a repair for the problem. I did the repair and I still get the message. Can you give a solution?
A: When you see a message like this, it is usually your browser offering a suggestion that typically doesn’t result in a resolution. What the browser is telling you is that it is having trouble connecting to the internet. This message is likely an indication of a faulty network or internet connection.
To properly troubleshoot, reboot your computer. And while it is rebooting, also reboot your modem, your router and your WiFi access point if you are using a separate device for that.
If the problem persists, I would recommend you update your system network drivers. You can find these at the vendor’s website. Another thing to do is scan your system for malware. Certain malware programs can cause connectivity issues.
If all that doesn’t help, you will need to call your internet provider to have it troubleshoot your connection.
The last time I had this problem, I had to exchange my equipment with Comcast. And the time before that, I had to have a Comcast tech come to the house and replace the cable that connected my house to their service.
Connectivity issues are never fun. But a little patience can go a long way.
