Original Greek Festival takes place near Museum District

Visitors can be Greek for day at The Original Greek Festival and enjoy authentic handmade Greek foods, traditiona­l Greek music and dancing, genuine Greek agora/marketplac­e and expanded festival grounds

Oct. 7-9.

Participan­ts can join the festivitie­s at the Annunciati­on Greek Orthodox Cathedral complex near downtown and the Museum District, located at 3511 Yoakum Blvd.

Part of the proceeds from the Greek Festival have helped many people through donations to various charitable organizati­ons, such as Children’s Assessment Center, S.E.A.R.C.H., Houston Area Women’s Center, Covenant House, Texas Emergency Aid Coalition (EAC), and the Star of Hope Mission.

Dates and hours

• Thursday, Oct. 7, 5-10 p.m.

• Friday, Oct. 8, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

• Saturday, Oct. 9, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Admission at the gate is $5 for adults; with children 12 and under admitted free. On Friday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., there is free admission. Presale ticket includes one-day admission, dinner plate, and your choice of souvlaki, Greek salad, or pastry box.
