The Garden Club of Houston hosts Bulb & Plant Mart
The Garden Club of Houston’s Bulb & Plant Mart began on the steps of the Museum of Fine Arts 79 years ago. Members sold bulbs and plants dug from their own gardens.
Today, gardeners will find a collection of unusual crinums, daylilies, gingers, perennials, shrubs, vines, herbs and citrus plants, including exclusive offerings grown specifically for the mart from the gardens of GCH members.
The event will take place Oct. 14-16 at St. John the Divine, 2450 River Oaks Blvd. Hours of operation are 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 14; 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 15; and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16.
Admission for the preview party (Oct. 14) is $20.
The popular Plants that Merit Attention Booth will be open on Saturday morning, offering selections collected for the mart. Special exhibits will include the live butterfly tent from the Houston Museum of Natural Science Cockrell Butterfly Center and the Conservation Booth, featuring a variety of native and drought-tolerant plants.
Our Natives in the City Booth will be back again this year offering native plants that support a wide variety of pollinators.
Proceeds from this family-friendly event are returned to support the Houston community.
