MECA presents Día de los Muertos Festival
Every year, MECA celebrates its annual Día de los Muertos Festival, a community celebration of Latin American folk art traditions that commemorate family and ancestry.
This year, MECA’s Día de los Muertos Festival will take place on Saturday, Oct. 30, and Sunday, Oct. 31, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will feature a family altar exhibit; community workshops; and a twoday festival boasting a variety of traditional foods from the Americas, authentic Latin American arts and crafts, and three performance stages. Admission is free.
Multicultural Education and Counseling Through the Arts (MECA) is a Houston, Latino-based arts and community nonprofit organization committed to providing arts education, support services, and multicultural artistic performances and events.
For more than 40 years, MECA Houston has served to positively and holistically impact the lives of underserved youth and their families in Houston by promoting social equity through arts education and cultural programming.
