Nov. 5: Dobie Dichos entertains in Oakville

-

Recognized as one of “the” events to attend in Texas, Dobie Dichos includes campfires, chili con carne, and the words of J. Frank Dobie to celebrate folklore, literature, and storytelling of Texas and the Southwest.

Attendees bring their own lawn chairs and sit under the stars by the campfire as they listen to invited authors and storytellers read/tell a story from one of J. Frank Dobie’s works or read/tell a piece inspired by his works.

At 6 p.m., a meal of chili, pan de campo, dessert and water is served. (Program-only tickets are available.) The program begins at 6:45 p.m., followed by a social hour with complimentary wine and dessert.

“A quiet night, stars, a fire, chili, and the stories and folklore of J. Frank Dobie. Now that combination certainly makes for a totally Texas experience,” said Kim Lehman, storyteller.

The event will take place on Nov. 5 at 107 Curry St. in Oakville. Sponsored by Dobie Dichos Inc. Admission: $20 and $15. For more information, visit www.dobiedichos.com.
