16-year-old dies after shooting in parking lot

A 16-year-old died after a shooting Friday near Jersey Village, according to the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office.

Precinct 4 constables found the boy shot around 7:50 p.m. in an apartment complex parking lot in the 14500 block of Philippine Street, said Sgt. Dennis Wolfford of the Harris County Sheriff ’s Office homicide unit.

He died at the hospital, according to Wolfford.

Investigators learned the teen met with people in an SUV, which was possibly a gold or brown Chevy Suburban, Wolfford said. The vehicle fled after the shooting. Drugs or robbery may be involved.
