Winston Lee Stokes, best known as “Skip” to his family and friends, peacefully went to be with our Heavenly Father on August 6th, 2021. Skip was born in Houston, Texas, to Winston L. Stokes of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Marquerite Taylor of Ennis, Texas. He grew up as a kid in Ennis, working at his mother’s hotel and playing football through high school and into college. He received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from East Texas State University in Commerce, Texas, in 1952 and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the university of Texas in Austin in 1957. He served his country proudly as a member of the United States Air Force and was a Korean War veteran. He had been living in The Woodlands, Texas, since 1979. He was a Certified Profession­al Landman and spent over 35 years working in the Oil Industry, finishing his career with Tenneco Oil Company. A devoted follower of God, Skip was an Elder at The Woodlands Christian Church for many years and more recently attended The Woodlands United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Kathryn Fay (Love) Stokes of Waxahachie, Texas; his brother George Stokes and sister Lynette Clark; 3 children Beverly (husband Ray), Michael (wife Colleen), and Robert (wife Julie); 7 grandchild­ren Nathan (wife Mandy), Rebecca (husband Jordan), Shannon (husband Santi), Logan, Allyson,

Ashley, and Nicholas; and 3 great grandchild­ren Lucas, Charlie, and Emma. He was an amazing brother, husband, father, grandfathe­r, and great grandfathe­r who devoted his life to enriching the lives of those around him and who set the example of how to live a life of devotion to God and family.

A celebratio­n of life will be held in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands United Methodist Church, Monday September 27, 2021, at 10:00AM. All are welcome. The family has requested that no flowers be sent, but any tributes be made in the form of a donation to the Internatio­nal Essential Tremor Associatio­n at www.essentialt­remor.org.
