Yankees’ 13-game win streak ends

OAKLAND, Calif. — The New York Yankees’ 13-game winning streak ended as Frankie Montas pitched seven shutout innings and the Oakland Athletics held on for a 3-2 victory Saturday.

Matt Chapman homered to help stop the Yankees’ best run in nearly 60 years. The A’s had lost six straight and 10 of 12 before handing the charging Yankees their first loss since Aug. 12 in Chicago against the White Sox.

The Yankees’ string was their best since a 13-game streak in September 1961.

GIANTS 5, BRAVES 0: Logan Webb threw seven strong innings to win his seventh consecutiv­e decision, Tommy La Stella and Mike Yastrzemsk­i each homered and drove in two runs as San Francisco won at Atlanta.

RED SOX 5, INDIANS 3 (10): J.D. Martinez hit a threerun homer in the 10th inning off Nick Wittgren as visiting Boston beat Cleveland.

RAYS 4, ORIOLES 3: Randy Arozarena hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the eighth inning and Tampa Bay won at Baltimore. The AL East leaders improved to 17-1 against the Orioles this year.

MARLINS 6, REDS 1: Sandy Alcantara had a careerhigh 12 strikeouts in seven innings to help host Miami defeat Cincinnati for the first time in six meetings.

CUBS 7, WHITE SOX 0: Patrick Wisdom backed Alec Mills with two homers and the Chicago Cubs beat the Chicago White Sox for the first time this season.

METS 5, NATIONALS 3: Michael Conforto hit a goahead, three-run drive in the seventh inning for his first career pinch-hit homer as struggling New York won at home.

CARDINALS 13, PIRATES 0: Edmundo Sosa drove in five runs on four hits and Adam Wainwright baffled Pittsburgh, allowing three hits over seven innings as visiting St. Louis cruised to a victory. Wainwright (13-7), who turns 40 on Monday, is unbeaten against Pittsburgh in his last 17 starts dating to 2016.

ANGELS 10, PADRES 2: Jared Walsh and Jack Mayfield homered and Justin Upton got his 1,000th career RBI as host Los Angeles routed San Diego.

DODGERS 5, ROCKIES 2: Chris Taylor homered and Will Smith drove in two runs and Los Angeles won at home.

PHILLIES 7, DIAMONDBAC­KS 0: Didi Gregorius hit three doubles, Kyle Gibson pitched six sharp innings and Philadelph­ia won at home. Jean Segura and Odubel Herrera homered for the Phillies.

TWINS 6, BREWERS 4: Miguel Sano drove in a pair of runs and host Minnesota outlasted the rain and Milwaukee.

BLUE JAYS 3, TIGERS 2 (10): Corey Dickerson’s runscoring single in the 10th inning — his third hit of the game — lifted Toronto to a win at Detroit.

ROYALS 4, MARINERS 2: Salvador Perez homered for the third straight game to lead visiting Kansas City over Seattle.
