Pandemic surge puts Best Dressed luncheon on hold

- Joy Sewing

The Houston Chronicle Best Dressed Luncheon and Neiman Marcus Fashion Presentation benefiting March of Dimes will be postponed again, because of the recent surge of COVID cases.

The event, which draws 700 attendees, was scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Westin Galleria; it was postponed from its original March 2020 because of the pandemic.

The luncheon, with co-chairs Brigitte Kalai and Alicia Smith, honors 10 women for their style and philanthropy in the community. Since its inception 39 years ago, the Best Dressed luncheon has raised $11 million for the March of Dimes, which works to improve the health of babies by preventing premature births, infant mortality and birth defects.

The 2020 Houston Chronicle Best Dressed honorees are: Greggory Burk, Hall of Fame; Ann Ayre; Alice Mao Brams; Estela Cockrell; Gaynell Drexler; Melissa Juneau; Joanna Hartland Marks; Roslyn Bazzelle Mitchell; Leigh Smith; and Hallie Vanderhider.
