-

1938-2021

Betty Sue McGhee, 83, of Houston, Texas passed away Wednesday August 25, 2021. She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas in Pulaski County on May 6, 1938, the second of 8 siblings to parents Edgar and Lorene Dugan, who relocated the family to Houston, Texas in 1952. She is preceded in death by her husband James E McGhee of 59 years, baby son David Ray McGhee, son James E McGhee Jr and siblings Jerry Dugan, Mike Dugan and Randy Dugan.

Sue was a homemaker, loved pretty flowers, sewing, painting, decorating homes, making beautiful bows and wrapping every gift beautifully. She was a creative woman and used her God given talents to make beautiful things. She was a trailblazer, she and her friend, Margie, started their own business; a children’s boutique called “Over the Rainbow”, unique in its time.

There was nothing she could not accomplish. Sue was very talented, giving, and unselfish, always placing others before herself, truly the glue that bound the family together. She was known as “MIMI”, not to just her own grandchildren, but she was everyone’s MIMI.

Left to cherish her memory are her three surviving children, Regina Sue Cherry and spouse Leonard, Mark Andrew McGhee, Gaylinn Kay Svec and spouse Ivan, 4 siblings Becky Baggerly, Pat Dugan, Ellen Petrvalsky, and Gail Garner along with her six grandchildren Hayley, Elaine, Megan, Sarah, Drew and Paige, and eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to Maria, Delores, Ana, Diana and Bea for taking such special care of “MIMI” for many, many years. They treated her like they would treat their own Mother and for that we will be forever grateful.
