The secondary will be a main focus in the defense’s effort to force more turnovers after historic lows last season. Justin Reid has looked comfortable in the new scheme as a ranging free safety. Converted cornerback Lonnie Johnson had an impressive preseason and could still push Eric Reid at strong safety. Former Brown Terrance Mitchell will start at corner opposite Bradley Roby, who will miss the season opener while serving the end of a six-game suspension. Caserio signed former All-Pro Desmond King to bolster the unit at slot corner.
