Special teams is perhaps the best unit on the Texans. Punter Cam Johnston, signed from the Eagles, averaged 44.6 yards per punt in the preseason, had a long of 63 yards, and pinned eight of his 13 punts within the opponent’s 20. Ka’imi Fairbairn was 6-of-6 on preseason field-goal attempts, with a long of 42 yards. Houston has never had a return specialist as established as Andre Roberts, a three-time Pro Bowler and former All-Pro, who missed the preseason with an injury but is expected to play in the opener.
