Corps’ Ike dike plan headed to Congress
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Friday released the final version of its Coastal Texas Study, a conceptual report that proposes building coastal and bay-side barriers to protect the Houston region against storm surge. The plan’s completion marks a significant step for an idea of a Texas A&M professor that has taken years to develop. The Corps’ chief of engineers is expected to sign off on the
$29 billion plan and send it to Congress by Oct. 12.
