WHEN THE TEXANS RUN
Against Jacksonville, the Texans ran 41 times for 160 yards. The longest run by a back was 11 yards by Mark Ingram II. Tyrod Taylor contributed a 29-yard run and finished with 41 on three carries. Taylor thinks pass-first, but he’s an excellent runner, and the Browns know what he’s capable of doing as a runner because he played for them in 2018. If the Texans stand a chance of pulling an upset, Taylor has to run effectively, perhaps six or seven times. The Browns will try to contain him in the pocket, but he’s elusive enough to break away and run for yards, especially when Cleveland is playing man coverage. The Texans had four of their five backs active for Jacksonville. Ingram, Phillip Lindsay and David Johnson scored touchdowns. Ingram had 26 carries for 85 yards, a 3.3-yard average. Offensive coordinator Tim Kelly used Ingram to pound the ball between the tackles when the Texans had a huge lead. It’s doubtful they’ll be in that kind of situation against the Browns. Cleveland allowed 73 yards rushing against the
Chiefs.
