Roy Lewis Barnes, Jr.. died unexpected­ly of pneumonia on September 29, 2021. He was born November 2, 1956 in Pasadena, Texas.

In 1978, He married Neva Gibbens, who remained his best friend and companion, as well as his beloved, throughout his life.

Roy graduated from the University of Houston at Clear Lake with a Bachelor’s degree in accounting in 1978. He then worked as a CPA for several years, and later returned to Law School at the University of Houston, where he graduated with honors in 1989. He joined the law firm of Pannill and Moser, eventually becoming a partner.

Later, Roy decided on a solo practice in civil law, mostly oil and gas litigation. Roy was fortunate to work with Bill Pannill and Eliot Tucker, who served as mentors and were loyal friends.

In addition to the Law, Roy enjoyed history, especially Texas history, the Astros, and trips with family members. He was hard working, kind, and tried to make life better for others.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Fern Barnes. He is survived by his wife Neva, his sister Betty, his brother Alan and his wife Gay. Also, he is survived by his nephews and their wives, Sean and Margaret, and Nathan and Shannon, as well as grandniece­s Miranda and Phoebe.

Given the current Covid conditions, Roy’s memorial will be a private affair with only the immediate family.
