Lawrence Edward Tiernan, Jr., 92, passed into heaven on Thursday, September 9, 2021. “Larry” will always be remembered for his generosity and deep love for family that will be with us forever. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann of 67 years, his parents Helen Valentino Tiernan and Lawrence E. Tiernan, Sr., and greatgrand­son Laeth Daniel Culver. He is survived by his daughter Elena Stanley, son Larry A. Tiernan, grandchild­ren Jennifer Culver, Kimberly England, Ashley Haener, Lynsey Wagner, Heather Tiernan and Lauren Tiernan, great-grandchild­ren Colby, Trent, Brody, Marleigh, Bennett, Beau, Brooklyn, Jackson and Harrison and brothers Thomas and Robert. Larry was employed at Exxon (formerly Esso) Oil Company for 37 years, starting in the mailroom and retiring in 1982 as a Purchasing Director. While at Esso in the late 1940’s he met his future wife Ann Marcella Schloss. He was a talented baseball player and played semi-pro baseball in the New York area in the 1940’s. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Mineola, NY and he enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with friends, and he was considered an expert player. He was an avid Boston Red Sox baseball fan and achieved one of his lifelong goals of attending some Red Sox games in Fenway Park in 2018. One of his greatest pleasures was traveling the world with his wife, with whom he enjoyed 58 cruises often accompanie­d by his children and grandchild­ren. A service will be held at Christ the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, located at 18511 Klein Church Rd. in Spring, TX at 11:00 AM Friday October 15, 2021.

Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. following the church ceremony at Forest Park Cemetery 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
